Integrated Solution
Smart Glass
Factory-laminated switchable glass designed for new construction, joinery integration, and projects where the switchable function must be built into the glazing unit from the start. The premium choice for architects and developers specifying privacy glass early in the process.
What is Smart Glass?
Smart Glass is switchable privacy glass with a PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) interlayer integrated inside the glass assembly during manufacturing. Unlike Smart Film which is applied to existing glass surfaces, Smart Glass is a complete glazing unit with the switchable technology built in from the start.
This integrated approach is typically specified earlier in the project process and is best suited to new glazing packages rather than retrofit applications. It delivers a cleaner, built-in solution where the privacy technology is part of the glass itself—invisible and seamless.

How It Works
From specification to installation—the Smart Glass process.
Glass Specification
Project requirements are reviewed and the appropriate Smart Glass configuration is specified for your glazing package.
Factory Lamination
The PDLC interlayer is laminated within the glass assembly at the manufacturing stage, creating an integrated unit.
Site Installation
The completed Smart Glass units are delivered and installed as part of your glazing or joinery package.
Power & Control
Electrical connections and control systems are integrated, enabling instant switching between transparent and opaque states.
Smart Glass vs Smart Film
Both solutions deliver switchable privacy, but each is suited to different project contexts. Understanding the differences helps ensure the right choice for your application.
Why Choose Smart Glass
Key advantages of the integrated Smart Glass solution.
Factory-Integrated Privacy
The switchable PDLC layer is built directly into the glass assembly—no retrofit application required.
Clean Built-In Appearance
A seamless architectural finish with the privacy technology invisible within the glazing unit.
Ideal for New Construction
Specified early in the project process, making it perfect for new builds and glazing replacement.
Architectural Glass Compatibility
Can be incorporated into various glass build-ups including double-glazed and specialized units.
Smart Control Integration
Compatible with switches, remotes, apps, and building automation systems for seamless operation.
Premium Project Positioning
Delivers a high-end solution that reflects the quality of premium architectural projects.
Applications
Smart Glass is specified for projects where integrated privacy solutions are valued from the design phase—delivering a seamless architectural finish.
- Executive Offices

When Smart Glass is the Right Choice
Smart Glass is typically recommended when the following conditions apply to your project.
The glazing is still being specified and procurement has not begun
The project is under construction with flexibility in the glass package
A built-in solution is preferred over retrofit film application
Architectural integration is a priority from the earliest design stages
The project requires custom glazing configurations or specialized glass build-ups
If your glass is already installed or the project is complete,Smart Film may be the better fit.
